Do I need to pay for a mold test?

Often no. If you can already see mold, a test usually won't tell you anything a trained eye can't — and we'll say so upfront rather than sell you one you don't need. Testing is most useful when you suspect a problem (musty smell, past water damage, health symptoms) but can't see visible growth, or when you need lab documentation for insurance, a home sale, or a landlord dispute.

Not necessarily. All mold — black, green, yellow, white — can cause allergic reactions in some people. The color doesn't indicate how dangerous it is; the proper removal process is the same regardless of color or species. If you think mold may be affecting your health, check with your doctor.
